Welcome to Thailand! Once you've arrived, our team will greet you at the airport and ensure your smooth transfer.

Airport Transfer:
Fly into Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX). Our shuttle transfer will be available to pick you up. When booking your flights, please plan to arrive by 12pm to allow enough time to deplane, collect your luggage, and reach the designated shuttle pickup area.

Arrival and Check-in:
Transfer from Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) to the hotel. Settle in and relax after your journey.

Get to know your fellow travelers as we arrive and settle into our home for the next few days.

Welcome Dinner:

Morning: Departure from Chiang Mai:
After breakfast at the hotel, we will embark on an exciting journey to Chiang Rai. Our first stop is at a cafe where we will take a break during our three-hour drive to Chiang Rai.

Visit the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun):
Our main attraction awaits at the White Temple, a modern architectural marvel designed by local artist Chaloemchai Khositphiphat. Explore this unconventional masterpiece adorned with intricate details and symbolic art.

Lunch Break:
Following the White Temple visit, enjoy a quick lunch before heading to our next destination.

Explore the Blue Temple (Wat Rong Seua Ten):
Discover the serene beauty of the Blue Temple, known for its striking blue interior and intricate artwork. Learn about the temple’s significance and enjoy the peaceful ambiance.

Optional Golden Triangle Tour:

Morning: Thailand Jungle Hike:

Activity: Santichon Village:
Next, we'll explore Santichon Village, also known as the Chinese Yunnan Cultural Village. Wander through the village to discover traditional Yunnan-style houses, beautiful gardens, and cultural exhibits. Don’t miss the opportunity to taste authentic Yunnan cuisine and tea.

Activity: Pai Temple (Wat Phra That Mae Yen):
Conclude the day with a delicious dinner at a traditional Thai restaurant in Pai. Enjoy authentic Thai dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients, and soak in the warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Evening: Leisure Time in Pai:
After dinner, you'll have some leisure time to explore Pai's vibrant night market or relax at the hotel. The night market is filled with local crafts, street food, and live music, providing a perfect end to an eventful day.

Activity: Sai Ngam Hot Spring:
On our way to Mae Hong Son, we'll stop at the Sai Ngam Hot Spring. Nestled within a national park, this popular hot spring offers a serene setting for a relaxing dip. The mineral-rich waters are known for their soothing properties, providing a perfect break on our journey.

Lunch: Picnic or Local Restaurant:
Enjoy a hearty picnic lunch or dine at a local restaurant nearby, ensuring we are well-fed for the afternoon and evening as we will be fasting for an evening at the temple.

Afternoon: Arrival at Forest Monastery, Mae Hong Son:
After our visit to the hot springs, we will continue our journey to Mae Hong Son. Upon arrival, we will check into the Forest Monastery. Take a tour of the monastery and get acquainted with the schedule for the remainder of our stay.

Evening: Free Time & Meditation:
Spend the evening exploring the monastery's ancient caves, where you can meditate in a tranquil and historic setting. You may also choose to take a vow of silence, deciding the length and timing at your own convenience. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and reflect on the day's journey as you settle into the rhythm of monastic life.

05:00 AM: Waking Up & Early Morning Practice:
Begin your day early with a recommended practice of meditation, chanting, yoga, or any other spiritual exercise. The peaceful morning hours are perfect for setting a positive tone for the day.

06:30 AM: Rice Offering to the Monks:
Participate in the traditional Thai Buddhist practice of making a rice offering to each monk. This small ceremonial gesture is a beautiful insight into the culture and generates good karma for everyone involved.

07:00 AM: Breakfast:
Enjoy a classic Thai breakfast, typically consisting of rice, vegetables, and fresh fruit. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available. The breakfast is vegetarian, adhering to the monastic practice of simplicity and purity.

08:00 AM: Morning Dharma Lesson and Meditation Class:
Attend a morning Dharma lesson, featuring a talk in both Thai and English. Following the talk, engage in 40 minutes of walking meditation, 40 minutes of sitting meditation, and 15 minutes of lying down meditation. These practices reflect the four postures of meditation taught by the Buddha.

10:30 AM: Lunch Offering to the Monks and Dharma Talk:
Take part in a ceremonial food offering to the monks, followed by a short Dharma talk. This formal offering is an opportunity to gain good karma and deepen your understanding of Thai Buddhism and culture. Ladies will place their food offerings in front of the abbot, while gentlemen offer food directly to the monks, adhering to traditional customs.

11:00 AM: Lunch:
Enjoy a vegetarian lunch, featuring a variety of dishes and rice, as well as fresh fruit. This meal will be your last for the day, although some fruit or biscuits may be available in the afternoon.

01:00 PM: Afternoon Dharma Talk and Meditation:
Participate in a similar format to the morning session, with a Dharma talk given by a monk in both Thai and English. Engage in walking meditation, sitting meditation, and lying down meditation. Use this time to ask any questions you may have.

04:00 PM: Cleaning and Helping in the Monastery:
Contribute to the upkeep of the monastery by helping with various tasks such as raking leaves, putting away plates, cutting up fruit, picking fruit, feeding the fish, cleaning around your dorm or kuti, and setting up the Dharma hall. Community effort is essential to the monastery’s well-being.

05:00 PM: Free Time:
Take this time to read, explore the monastery, have a quiet conversation, meditate, or relax. Use this period for personal reflection and rejuvenation.

06:00 PM: Evening Chanting, Meditation, and Dharma Talk:
Join in evening chanting, with books available in both English and Thai. The chanting session lasts around 45 minutes, followed by a 40-minute meditation and a short talk by the monk. This serene evening practice helps to conclude your day on a peaceful and contemplative note.

Note:
For those who do not wish to fast, there is a nearby coffee shop offering extra snacks and foods to keep you energized throughout the day. This retreat is not a silent retreat, but if you prefer, you are welcome to practice silence at your own convenience.
